2023 is the season we’ve dubbed a “Journey Into Joy.” We’re truly excited about what this season holds and so very happy for your continued (and growing) support and attendance. Don Quixote begins our 2023 Season and returns due to popular demand. Covid cut short our production in 2022 and we heard you loud & clear – so the woebegone Knight-Errant and his trusty steed, Rocinante will once again travel through La Mancha and straight into your heart. We have old shows, new shows and exciting Rogue Valley premieres – The Revolutionists is a Lauren Gunderson delight and Patrick Barlow’s Christmas Carol is a clever refresh of a classic. All in all, 7 wonderful reasons to celebrate the joy that live theatre brings. Come and celebrate this journey with us, won’t you?

Don Quixote was actually two novels, written in the early 17th century by Miguel de Cervantes. In our story, the first act is based on his first book and features many of the most loved stories of the noble Knight-Errant, Don Quixote of La Mancha. Act two is based on the lesser-known second novel, but incorporates many of the characters from the first. Anne Ludlum and David Quicksall have created a lively, English/Spanish adaptation which captures the joy, chaos and poignancy of Don Quixote. Ten actors bring to life all of the zany people of La Mancha and is suitable for the entire family. There is some coarse humor, comic violence and sexual innuendo.

Four beautiful, badass women lose their heads in this irreverent, girl-powered comedy set during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror. Playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, former queen (and fan of ribbons) Marie Antoinette, and Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle hang out, murder Marat, and try to beat back the extremist insanity in 1793 Paris. This grand and dream-tweaked comedy is about violence and legacy, art and activism, feminism and terrorism, compatriots and chosen sisters, and how we actually go about changing the world. There is some strong language and coarse humor.

Almost everything in this fairy tale goes wrong and nothing is quite what it seems. James Lapine said that the most unpleasant person (The Witch) would have the truest things to say, and the “nicer” people would be less honest. In the Witch’s words: “I’m not good; I’m not nice: I’m just right.” Join us for our musical venture Into the Woods. Suitable for ages 6+.

Loosely based on William Shakespeare’s comedy, Measure for Measure, the plot and casting is streamlined and the setting is the American Old West – late 1800’s. It’s a retake on one of the “problem plays” and it’s a rowdy, bawdy summer fun-filled musical that we’re sure you will enjoy. Rebeck’s spirited, funny new play creates that combination of passion, narcissism and bravery that Bernhardt summoned up to tackle Shakespeare’s formidable tragic hero. Don’t miss this delightful romp set in Paris at the beginning of the 20th Century. Renee Hewitt stars as the irrepressible Sarah.
