Mission

The mission of Collaborative Theatre Project is to offer quality professional theatrical productions supporting local artists; community outreach and educational programs; and to enhance the lives of members of our community through exposure to performing and visual arts.

Leadership

Susan Aversa

Artistic Director

Susan is a member of the Medford Chamber of Commerce and a business owner with a strong background in marketing and public relations. She has also taught theatre at college level and has worked as a theatre critic in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has a BA in Theatrical Design and an MFA in Directing/Playwriting. Susan brings both an artistic and business background to CTP and is equally comfortable with the practical requirements of an organization as well as the creative. She has recently acquired both graphic and website creative skills and is excited about the additional elements she brings to benefit CTP. Currently she owns and operates Yogurt Hut in North Medford, handling both the marketing and accounting functions for that company. She is delighted that despite the recent pandemic complications, CTP is continuing to grow and achieve critical acclaim.

Tommy Statler

Associate Artistic Director

Tommy Statler is an accomplished stage director with a diverse background in theater arts. He holds an MFA in Directing from Cal State Fullerton. He is a proud Associate Member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.

Throughout his career, Tommy has been involved in various teaching roles. He has worked as a Teaching Artist at prestigious institutions such as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF), Collaborative Theatre Project, and California Shakespeare Theatre. He currently works at OSF as an Education Assistant.

Elliot Anderson

Board Member

Elliot is the owner of Britannia Construction, and has also worked as a realtor in the Rogue Valley. As the owner of Britannia, he is widely respected for the quality of his work. He has also put his construction skills to use as the Technical Director for CTP. He has contributed to set construction for other local theatres as well. Elliot has performed at Oregon Cabaret Theatre in a production of Christmas Carol and knows the industry from onstage to backstage. His addition to the Board enhances the quality of our productions.

Steven Dominguez

Board Member

Steven began his career as a theatre artist over 40 years ago. In NYC he received his acting training and holds a BFA in Acting from the Davis Center of the Arts at The City College of New York. Steven’s acting career has been wide and varied. It includes performances in film, television, Off-Broadway, Broadway and Europe. At CTP he is creating and directing the CTP Kids Bilingual Program, which premiered in 2020 on the Medford Center Plaza. He has multiple productions planned for each season and has recruited some incredible artists to grow the program. He is also a co-owner of Inward Bound Wellness in Ashland, Oregon. As Marketing Director for IBW, Steven has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce and is proud to be a founder of, and first-term president for, The Ashland Business Connections Chapter of BNI (Business Network International).

Thom M. Hepford

Board Treasurer

Thomas M. Hepford, CPA is a co-owner of Nagel & Padilla, LLC, a tax and accounting firm in Ashland. He brings over 25 years of management, tax, and training experience with him from industries such as retirement communities, healthcare, emergency communications, and hospitality. Originally from Northeastern Kansas, Thom remains enamored with the Southern Oregon scenery and climate. Thom’s past community service includes board membership on the Talent Chamber of Commerce and the Ashland Arts Center, participation in the Ashland Rotary Club and volunteer service on the City of Ashland Audit Committee.

Stan Rico Jensen

Board Member

Stan grew up in the Rogue Valley and graduated from South Medford High School. He always had a love for music, theater, and dancing. After graduation, Stan moved to the Los Angeles area where he worked as a Dancer, in Retail Management, and as Aladdin in the Fantasmic Show at Disneyland. He has been fortunate to live also in Arizona, Florida, and Alaska as well. Stan came back to the Rogue Valley in 2004 and started a career in banking. Stan currently is a Retail Manager for First Interstate Bank. He enjoys working with several local non-profit organizations and giving back to the community. Stan loves to travel and learn about other cultures and attend concerts. He has travelled to countries all over the world. Stan’s favorite would be Greece.

Hillary Spector

Board Member

Hillary has been teaching drama for the past 20 years. She has been a Teaching Artist for New York Theater Workshop, HAI (Hospital Audiences Inc.), and LEAP. She was the drama teacher at P.S. 36 and P.S. 169 where she taught acting, directing, choreography, puppetry and mask making. Hillary additionally spent summers at Piper Theater in Brooklyn where she wrote and directed plays for the Starvelings company. She taught movement and voice at New York Conservatory for the Performing Arts and conducted several acting and movement workshops.

Her professional work includes performing at BAM, Classic Stage Company and The Public Theatre among many other theaters. As a director, her plays have been seen at Yale and Brown University as well as the Spoleto Festival, the Prelude Festival, the Havel Festival and Pen World Voices. She has studied intensely with Enrique Pardo in Paris and Lloyd Richards in NYC.

Martin Steele

Board Member

Martin Steele joined our Board of Directors in 2024. Steele attended UCLA, studying Art History and English. Post college, Steele began his own framing company, Aesthetic Frame Design, which became the preeminent art framing company in Los Angeles, working for artists, galleries, collectors, and museums (The Getty, LACMA, MOCA, Norton Simon Museum, The Huntington Library). Steele owned and operated eleven art studios located throughout Los Angeles. As an esteemed artist, he exhibited his art in numerous shows over the years. Steele moved to the Rogue Valley in 2017, continuing his art work and is passionate about giving back to our art community. Steele serves on the Exhibition Committee at the Rogue Gallery and Art Center, is a member of the Ashland Gallery Association, and a founding member of The Talent Gallery (Talent, Oregon). As a board member, he is the curator for artists showing in the James Morrison Collier Art Gallery at the Collaborative Theatre Playhouse. In 2023 The Schneider Museum of Art acquired his piece, Yellow Sky Spirit for their permanent collection.

Pam Ward

Board Member, Emeritus

Pam Ward is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. She has been a Board Member and President of the AFTRA local in Denver, Colorado. Since 2005 Pam has been a member of The Old Time Radio Players in Grants Pass. She not only performs with this organization, but has also directed productions for them as well as serving on the Board of Directors. Pam has been instrumental in creating the Sound & Stage programming for CTP. She is also a narrator for the Library of Congress audio books program.
